In this post i will combine two trips made on the 25th & the 30th of December, 2009. Both were to Hessarghatta lake. Again a lot of common species.
25th December, 2009
Headed to Hessarghatta pretty late with my friend Rahul, who's in town for a short visit. Was testing my friends Sigma 170-500mm on the 1-D MkII. The AF was pretty good, but nowhere close to a L-lens. I did however prefer the Manual Focus on a few occasions, where in AF mode, the lens began to hunt a lot.

Made my third trip to this place with Piyush on a two-wheeler. Take my word, 2-wheelers arent the best option for birding, they tend to scare away a lot of birds! :P
All images shot with Sigma 135-400mm DG APO (hand-held & manually focused)

I loved the Pariah Kite in flight. That's an area I need to practice.
ReplyDeleteHappy New year!
Nice images, well composed as well. Wishing you many such moments in the New Year...Thomas
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you. I love the photos of the Indian Roller, and the Pied Bushchat looks really peaceful & serene.
ReplyDeleteHa, there are no images of yours to have disliked, for they are all exceptional in every way. The only complaint that I would have, is that you have opportunity to locate many more species of birds and such, then I have here. Winter is upon us and there are even fewer for now. I look very much forward to viewing your new images and your introduction to the many species in nature that we would never be able to view otherwise. Happy New Year~
ReplyDeleteHI,
ReplyDeleteWow you ended 2009 very nicely... I wish you will start 2010 in the same way!
Another smashing series Angad. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave, Thomas, Sharo, Mary, Chris & Frank for the wishes and comments. :) Hope you all had a lovely New Years eve. Will be visiting your blogs shortly!!
ReplyDelete@Mary: Actually, i agree with you on this front, my only limitation, is i don't have a vehicle to travel around, so i tag along with friends whenever they're traveling. Will try and get as many species as i can this year... :)
Amazing photographs! Its wonderful that you have managed to photograph so many raptors! Where did you photograph them?
ReplyDeleteHi Aditya, thanks for the comment. :) As mentioned inthe post, they were shot at Hessarghatta
ReplyDeletehey..very nice angle and a good use of the lens, you really have a good vision of composing the shots. Your shots have the perfect moods with a good timing. Lov'd to see ur pics..
ReplyDeletejus a little suggestion try to use point shoot and pan it will lock your moving objects. Else you are the master.
